The NSW Legislative Assembly has a fixed 4 –year term. Elections are held on the fourth Saturday in March every 4 years. The next election will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011.
Victoria
The Victorian Parliament has fixed 4-year terms for both Houses. Elections are held on the last Saturday in November every 4 years. The next election will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010.
Queensland
Queensland’s unicameral Parliament has a 3-year term. The election date is not fixed. The next election is due around September 2009.
South Australia
South Australia has a fixed 4 year term. Elections are held on the third Saturday in March every 4 years. The next election will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010.
Western Australia
Western Australia’s Parliament has a 4-year term. The election date is not fixed. The next election is due around February 2009.
Tasmania
Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon recently announced legislation to introduce fixed four year terms. Elections will be held on the third Saturday of in March every 4 years. The next election will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010.
Northern Territory
The Northern Territory’s Legislative Assembly has a four year term. The election date is not fixed, but an election must not be held within three years after the first meeting of the Assembly. The Northern Territory’s election must be held between July 2008 and June 2009.
Australian Capital Territory
The Australian Capital Territory’s Legislative Assembly has fixed four year terms. The next election will be held on Saturday, 18 October 2008.
