Federal Government Call for e-Health Partners
Today the Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon MP, announced a request for two tenders to help deliver Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records (PCEHR) as part of the Gillard Government’s plan to revolutionise the health system.
National Change and Adoption Partner
The Department of Health and Ageing will contract the National Change and Adoption Partner to develop a strategy and provide services to accelerate the adoption and uptake of the PCEHR system by the public and private sectors. This work will include event, communications and change support along with development of training and guidance materials in collaboration with the clinical community and software providers. National Infrastructure Partners
The Department will contract National Infrastructure Partners to develop and implement the necessary technological infrastructure required to run the PCEHR. This work will include developing, testing and implementing the systems and solutions needed to make the PCEHR work smoothly, securely and efficiently. The tender closes on 22 March 2011. Minister Roxon explained that the call for tenders “is crucial to ensuring the Government’s $466.7 million investment in the PCEHR system realises its full benefits, and does so in the most efficient and cost-effective way”. She said that a PCEHR “will save patients from repeating their medical history each time they see a new health professional” and will ensure that Australians who want to register for a personal e-health record can do so by 1 July 2012.
